Brodie’s original background is in healthcare and in behavioural and analytic psychotherapeutic interventions for children and adults whose distress may present as behaviour that challenges.
He is an internationally recognised practitioner, researcher and speaker on the prevention and safer management of violence in health social care and education having published 100+ papers. His research includes seminal papers on evaluating training, preventing restraint related injuries and deaths, how cultures of care may become corrupted (and what we can do to prevent it) and the challenges of adopting and implementing trauma informed care.
He is presently Clinical Director of CALM, leading on organization and individual consultancy and oversees program development. He also presently chairs the European Network for Training in the Management of Aggression.
