When you arrive at the hotel, please proceed to the conference reception (look for the SMS banners). When you register you will be given your conference pack and you will then be forwarded to where you can pick up your room keys if applicable. Your accommodation (if booked) is on a Bed and Breakfast basis only and the bill for this will be settled by the foundation. You may be asked for a credit card to cover any extra’s you require, or to charge things to your room account.
Your conference pack will include badges for parents/carers. These badges will be colour coded to help negotiate the conference. The colour scheme is explained below.

The aim of the badges is so that you can identify families and carers that you may not know, but who have children of a similar age to yours. Also you may want to speak with parents of the next age group up as they may have experience that could be relevant to the next stages of your child’s development.
We politely ask all conference attendees to wear their badges throughout the conference. Trustees will be wearing conference badges with a yellow background.
The conference itself will start at 10:00am in the main suite and the crèche will be open from 9am for those who have booked.
If this is your first SMS conference then there is a session starting at 9:30am entitled Conference Navigator for Newbies.
The crèche (if you have booked a space) will be open from 9am, please bring your registration documents with you to avoid delays.
For conference times please see the conference programme. Note the crèche will be closed during lunch times so you will need to collect your children from the crèche at the end of each morning and afternoon session and take them to the restaurant.
As the restaurant will be very busy we would request that families without children delay attending the restaurant by 30 minutes to enable the children to get fed first.

How to get to the Hotel
The nearest train station is the Solihull Train Station and is a short walk from the hotel. It has direct service to London Marylebone and Birmingham New Street stations.
The St Johns Hotel, Solihull is easily accessible from the M42, giving access to the M1, M5, and M40. Use the following navigation coordinates (52.416830, – 1.780708) and postcode (B91 1AT) to find the hotel. Parking is extensive and free for guests of the hotel, conference venue, and leisure club.
The Birmingham International Airport is just 4 miles, or 10 minutes via taxi, from The St Johns Hotel, Solihull. A typical fare is under £11. The 966 bus departs from the airport and stops at the Solihull Hospital around the corner from the hotel.
